Established in 1973 with only ten players the Montauk Rugby Club has progressed consistently over the past 30 years. The team has competed at a high level in both Major League Rugby and the USA National Championship Rugby competitions.

Montauk Rugby also boosts an exceptional seven a side rugby team, which plays tournaments nationwide during the summer months. The Sevens Summer is epitomized by the Local Montauk Sevens Rugby Festival which takes place in June each year at the East Hampton High School. Teams from all over the North East Attend this Tournament in an attempt to win the Converted Hampton Sevens Trophy.

With the growth of rugby globally and the professionalism of the sport in Europe and the Southern Hemisphere, Montauk RFC has found itself in a unique position to attract International Players to it’s shores. The Hampton’s world appeal as the play ground of the rich and famous has brought players here to taste the New York Culture and play in the local competitions. The Club currently boasts 7 international players in its ranks and many others who support the club from past playing years.
