Montauk Win Northeast
Montauk Rugby Club played their way into and won the final of the Northeast
Division III Rugby championships this past weekend. Montauk who also
hosted the tournament played 2 games over the weekend beating Southshore on
Saturday 61-7 to make the finals on Sunday where they played Syracuse.
Montauk eventually won the final 51-3 however it wasn't until the second
period that Montauk began to assert it's dominance. While the scores
reflect comfortable wins the team was definitely challenged along the way
by competitive spirit of both oppositions.
Montauk RFC would like to extend a big thank you to all the supporters and
sponsors who attended this weekends games. Without your support this would
not have been possible. Montauk RFC also managed to raise $10,000 towards
Soldier Ride over the weekend.
Montauk now moves on to the Elite 8 in Omaha, Nebraska on May
21st. 8 Teams from around the country will travel to Omaha to battle it
out for the top 2 positions in the country. In June the top 2 teams will
then travel to San Deigo where they will play for the National Div III
championship crown.
